I was browsing around Tumblr and came across this really slick little app called Fooducate.
Basically you scan the barcode on a food item and it shows the product (if it is in their database) with a grade and some other basic nutritional information. If there is reason to be alarmed it displays some information (too much sugar/sodium/etc.) and gives possible alternatives that are a nutritionally better choice.
Just for kicks I scanned a bunch of items from my snack stash at work. There was only one item that was not in their db. To be fair, it was a really bizarro item that I’m not sure can be legally classified as healthy for human consumption. Be that as it may it was fast and offered great choices.
